Final Interview by Ken crane

Picture
Plot: On a stage, there is a set of an interview office.
It's a scene of final selection by an employer.
The interview official and the employee are facing each other, sitting on a chair.
The interviewer(employer) said to the employee:

Employer: "I read your resume very carefully, and we've decided to employ you.                                                                                                           Congratulations!!"
Employee: "Oh? Is it really me? Why is it?"
Employer: "Why is it? Aren't you happy to have been adopted??"
Employee: "Oh yes, I'm very happy, but..... there must be an excellent candidate other than          me"
Employer: "Oh, it's certain. However, as a result of talking with everybody carefully, we decided to employ you"
Employee: "Thank you very much. I didn't think that anybody will employ me in this
depressed age. .... what made you decide to hire me?"
Employer: "Well, it's because you seem to have a very high intelligence quotient.
A journalist like you is required for a true journalism"
Employee: "But I have no specialties at all! I can't fly up in the air like a bird, I can't hold the breath and swim under the water like a dolphin, I can't run fast like cheetah, I can't....."
Employer: "What is it? You're employed, what are you complaining about?"
Employee: "Oh no, oh no, I didn't mean it! Well, to tell the truth, I was losing my confidence completely recently. ... I was feeling abandoned in this world. As you've read in my resume, my act was not excellent at all!!
I've being betraying myself and the others, I caused several wars and killed many people. I was making a mess on this planet for a very long time. I've driven away many races to extinction!.... that's why I can't believe that YOU are employing me.
.......Why did you employ me?".
Employer: "Do you know what is necessary for a true journalist?"
Employee: ".....No sir, I don't"
Employer: "It's whether if he or she knows human vice or not"
Employee: "Excuse me, what do you mean by that?"
Employer: "You mankind knows what vice is. The other creatures are too too pure and are not suitable for reporting the news. ......To tell the truth, it was a bird who was left in final selection besides you actually"
Employee: "A bird...???"
Employer: "Yes, a bird. They can look at a color in the same way as you human being. This ability is the most suitable work force to report beauty of this world. In addition to that they can fly over the sky! Well, I also had an interview with a bird, and was almost about to be selected..... But our personnel manager said to me: "Please wait a moment! ! Bird can't write! ! Bird cannot write the report since they can't read and write! !" .......So that is why a bird fell from final selection"
Employee: "Yes, I see.....we're the only creature who can read and write, certainly. I understood. OK, what on earth should I do??"

Employer: "I want you to report everything. That's your work"
Employee: "Yes.... but it may be almost miserable things. A murder case, a war and poverty..... For what on earth do I have to report such things to you?".
Employer: "It's because I have to know the shadow in order to see the light"
Employee: "I am sorry, I don't understand what you are saying"
Employer: "One day you human being will be going out from this Earth, and you are going to be looking at the world I've created from the space. I want you to report me firmly when that time comes.
I want you to tell me how beautiful Earth is. I have no eyes to see and I have no ears to hear.
So you're going to be my eyes, and you're going to be my ears.
I am asking you to report the beauties of the world to me. That is your job"
Employee: "......Yes sir, I'll do my best........ uhhh, by the way....."
Employer: "What is it?"
Employee: "What is my reward for this job? The whole world is in a great depression, right?... I have to feed my children too and....,"

Employer: "Oh, you were anxious about such thing? Don't worry, I will reward you sufficiently!"
Employee: "How much can I get?".
Employer: "You'll be working as my eyes and ears, so I will lend you my heart instead.
You'd be able to know the abyss and beauty of this universe like me. .....How is it? Will that be enough for a reward?".
Employee: "Oh yes! ....Certainly that is enough reward for me!!"
Employer: "Thank you my son..... And let me add only this to you: You seem like you lost a confidence, but you human never did any useless thing.......Believe me, nothing was meaningless. Please remember that all despair was needed to know what hope is.
Please report to me what your hope is when you get to the universe. ....Yes, I am counting on you human, my son"

An interviewer leaves the stage.
Employee is left alone on the stage, smiling.
A spotlight lighted up to him went off, and the stage turned dark.

Busy is a kind of happiness, Let we have no time to experience pain, Travel is a happy, Let us true experience life, Fatigue is a kind of enjoyment, Let us pure emptiness; Bumpy is a kind of experience,Let we really understand life. Let the joy flew into your door window, Let the good luck falls on you, Let happiness often blended with you mix, Let wishful flowed in your heart, Let time verse write full sincere and unforgettable, Let my message bring you happy auspicious.

Thanks for replying to my comment on Paulo Coelho's blog. I really did like the illustration of the child looking up at the rain.
This story, Final Interview, is pretty deep. I like how I realized that it was no ordinary workplace interview, but the God of Light sending a faithful person. Creative and fun to read.

Dear Ken,

Have been meaning to check out your blog at length. That's a great story you have here.
"You are our Eyes and ears" are the exact words my editor in Mumbai used for me when I was contributing to their magazine(Hair&Beauty)from 2008-10.The industry was new to me and I had great fun learning on the 'job' and reporting as best as I could.
Not a trained journalist or writer that way.Just grateful for some angels who are there, sometimes as your neighbor literally, who just keep on doing good for others no matter what without expecting any rewards:)

God really does repose a lot of Faith in all of us despite our misdemeanors and gaffes. That's Hope for me:)
A bird selected for the 'job' reminds me of a book titled ThornBirds by Colleen McCollough I read way back in junior college.Singing far more sweetly than the nightingale because that is the last song it sings.Because it has put a thorn in it's breast/HEART.Knowingly.
A bird would have been good too.Sometimes birdsong is the best music one hears in a lifetime:)
Writers writing and readers reading can confuse at times while reporting.Too many words...

Earth is still a beautiful place.Thank YOU,Ken for sharing Her Beauty just the way you see it.Through God's Eyes...

Love,
sheela

Dear Ken,

You are most welcome.I still have to go through all the links. And many thanks for your heartfelt wishes for me-one feels lost at times...
I see you are also a BeeGees Fan-woo hoo!And it seems we were born in the same year-1967!!
That's interesting about your Mumbai friend:)I have only visited Mumbai in my school days with family.I live in Hyderabad which is in another state in India.
Japan fascinates for several reasons-your gardens,Shinto shrines,Pico Iyer(have never read him yet but he is based in Japan too when he is not travelling)cherry trees, yes?,Japanese fans, tea ceremony, kimonos(fell in love with the descriptions in Memoirs of a Geisha) and this total reverence for ancient traditions, ancestors,beauty,space...
You'll just have to bear with me till I check out all your posts and respond:)

I used to do awfully at interviews-didn't really know who they wanted.Don't blame them- I have such a bad career graph!
Google,Deloitte,HSBC(I didn't join them)Why do people ask questions like-where do you see yourself 5 years from now???
Finally did read a book"What Color is Your Parachute? by Richard Nelson Bolles and thought he made sense but maybe I am the wrong candidate here for a 9-5 job(not any more)Become too lazy and rigid in many ways:(

sheela

Dear Sheela,

Thank you very much for your interest toward my country's culture.
I am also interested in your culture too.
I've been to Varanashi about 7 years ago;
I remember talking about religion with the hotel's owner which i was staying at.
Please pay a visit to Japan someday!!

Ken

Dear Ken,

Wow!That's great news.I haven't been to Varanasi myself-seems you beat me to it!!

I hope the hotel owner shared something true and profound with you:)In our enthusiasm, especially in holy places and with visitors,we Indians tend to go overboard with our stories, heh!heh!

I read about the Japanese gardens in an old copy of the National Geographic someone gifted me(i had given him my collection of old Reader's Digest-about 200 in all)What struck me was this line about monks raking the gravel in the Shinto shrines everyday- a most mundane task- but when one keeps at it,suddenly enlightenment can be yours! That is so true.

I would love to do that Ken,thanks so much for the invite to your beautiful country.
And I was touched by this book I picked up in a sale a couple of years ago- Sadako and one Thousand Cranes.

Somehow the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and the Holocaust continue to horrify and fascinate,if you know what I mean.Referring to the courage of the survivors...
Oh btw,I must tell you,Bryan Adams will be performing in my city on 16 Feb!His first in my city-he's been to India before.A dear friend in Mumbai had a blast at the live concert on 12th.She texted me yesterday saying she's in love with Bryan Adams. Her fav number-The only thing that looks good on me is you!!!Wonder what her husband made of that:)

Happy St.Valentine's Day to you and Mrs.Crane!God bless!

Love,
sheela

Thank you, Sheela!

It's snowing here in Tokyo right now.

Thank you very much for sharing the souls of people who died in that boming in Japan.

My cats name is Panjabi by the way ( he looks like an Indian rather than Japanese).
I think I have some kind of spiritual relation between India.

God Bless,
Ken

Dear Ken,

Something tells me I made that gaffe(foot-in-the-mouth disease)I referred to in a previous comment. What's with us Aries anyway? My sincere apologies if I said something amiss.

I saw your cat Panjabi's pic:)When I was a kid(sometimes i think I haven't evolved at all!!!)a friend dropped her cat in my lap.I don't know who was more frightened.I panicked, screamed and the cat didn't look too happy either and ever since then I have been scared of cats.We have had dogs for pets and my pet-bitch Betsy(my brother came up with that name)had to be put down. That was one long nightmare and I believe something died in me after her long-drawn out painful death at the hospital.Wasn't mercy killing as the Vet said it would be...
The Dalai Lama said something very interesting about pets and the attachment that arises out of having one...
Spiritual connection with India-I believe you:)
It's snowing in Tokyo? Feels like summer is already here.My umbrella is up:)

We have an International festival of dance being hosted in my city starting tomorrow.Russian Ballet, Flamenco,Kuchipudi,Derveshis etc.Looking forward to that and it's "Entry Free"!coz they had sponsors.Lucky me!

Love,
sheela

Dear Sheela,

You said nothing (realy nothing) wrong to me, Sheela.
I will apologies if I wrote something that made you hurt.
My english is not that good, and sometimes I write in a way which makes people feel bad.
And it's not your problem.
It's simply the problem about how i write.
Your comments are very polite&kind.

I love Dalai Lama's books.
I believe that he is a kind of person who will put an end of the Culture conflict ( I also believe that Paulo
is a same kind of a worrior).

Please enjoy the International dance festival.
Hoping to vist India someday again.

Love,
Ken

Oh thank YOU,dear Ken,I am so relieved to hear this from you.
And looks like we are online-it's nearing 2 in the afternoon here:)
Of course, NOTHING you said was wrong-ever- and your English is perfectly all right with me,dear friend. We'll just put that behind us now.
Yes I have learned so much while reading The Dalai Lama's books and interviews.Made painful reading about their displacement then relocation and settlement of Tibetans in India both in Bangalore and Dharamshala. And especially the sacrifices even a Divine Incarnation has to make from the very first outset.

Really excited about the Dance festival tomorrow onwards.I missed out on the Derveshis dance when they were here in Jan.Was sick most of Jan right from 3rd and now there are other issues to grapple with. But keeping the spirits up.

You must visit India again:)

Take care of you,

Love

Quelle belle histoire. M Christine G
